Channels

One event.
Four destinations. Same second.

An alert that only lights up a dashboard is a dashboard nobody is watching. A keep-out breach in livee can email the shift supervisor, SMS the floor lead who is already walking that aisle, POST to your incident system and pulse a beacon over the crossing — in parallel, from the same event.

Push is listed because it exists in the engine, not because you can use it. Until the Castomo apps ship, plan around the four channels above.

Routing

Channels belong to the alert, not to the account.

That is what lets the 03:00 rule be loud and the daytime rule be quiet on the same camera.

Per alert

Each alert carries its own set. A stall on the pack line emails operations; a keep-out on the cage wakes the floor lead. Same camera, different consequences.

Per window

Because alerts already carry an active window, the channel set is effectively time-aware: the night rule and the day rule are two alerts with two sets of destinations.

Per source default

Every camera carries default channels, so a new alert on that source starts sensibly before you change anything.

What a notification contains

Enough to act on, and enough to file.

  • The camera and the site it belongs to
  • The alert that fired, by the name you gave it
  • The object class and the confidence behind it
  • The measurement, where the alert type has one — distance against threshold
  • The timestamp, to the second
  • A clip of the seconds around the event, kept as long as that source is set to keep it

The beacon goes amber while the SMS is still in flight.

FAQ

About channels.

Can one alert use all four?

Yes, and several rules do. The four live channels fire in parallel from the same event — the machine signal does not wait for the email to send.

What happens if a channel fails?

API deliveries are retried and logged. A failed channel does not cancel the others: the beacon still pulses if your webhook endpoint is down.

Are mobile push notifications available?

Not yet. The push channel exists in the alert engine, but the Castomo mobile apps that receive it are still in development. Email, SMS, API and Ethernet are what you can use today.
